L’Osteria Mainz is temporarily closed from 24 August through 1 November 2026. The restaurant at Holzhofstraße 7 stands beside the cinema, near Mainz Römisches Theater station. Its large terrace has old olive trees.
A long bar and shared tables
Inside, smaller wooden tables sit alongside a long table with tall chairs. A substantial bar with seating stretches across the back of the dining room, with dark columns dividing the space. The Mainz branch opened in 2015 as the chain’s 43rd restaurant. Children have high chairs, baby-changing facilities and a table for drawing.
Large pizzas and pasta
The regular format centres on 45-centimetre pizzas, which can have two differently topped halves. Pasta is also available, with smaller portions for children.
Getting here after the closure
The Römisches Theater car park also has its entrance on Holzhofstraße and is open around the clock. Its height limit is two metres and payment is cashless only. There are ten accessible parking spaces, with a lift from the parking deck to street level.
Bus access in autumn 2026
A one-way restriction on Holzhofstraße began on 29 June and is expected to last five months. Buses 64, 65, 66 and 93 towards Hartenberg therefore skip Bahnhof Römisches Theater and run via Holzturm. Towards Oberstadt, the route is unchanged, but the replacement Bahnhof Römisches Theater stop is beyond the junction with Neutorstraße. The diversion is expected to continue beyond the restaurant’s announced closure period.
