LA PIZZERIA München
L’Osteria München Leopoldstraße
Pizzeria in München
Munich's first L’Osteria opened at Leopoldstraße 28 A in February 2006. Today, a large terrace and the nearby Giselastraße U-Bahn station are practical features of this Schwabing branch. The Englischer Garten is in the neighbourhood too, and all dishes are available to take away.
From lunch into the evening
The restaurant opens from 11am to midnight Monday to Saturday, and from noon to 11pm on Sundays. U-Bahn lines U3 and U6 stop at nearby Giselastraße. For children, this branch also offers smaller portions of pasta and salad.
Architect Ludwig Herrle designed the interior for the first Munich restaurant in 2006. His scheme included a specially made tiled floor depicting an aerial view of Turin. The premises previously housed Café am Siegestor, known as CAST.
At the opening, guests could watch the preparation at the open pizza counter: dough was shaped by hand and topped before baking.
A starting point in Schwabing
For a longer outing, a meal here can be combined with the Englischer Garten. The park stretches from near the old town into northern Munich, with paths through a designed landscape alongside the Isar meadows. There is a table for children to draw, read and play at, as well as a separate water station for guests bringing a dog.
