L’Osteria at Hannoversche Straße 13 is part of the Genusshöfe, a food and drink quarter on the former W. Schmidt foundry site. Pizza and pasta share this address with a wider neighbourhood of coffee roasting, baking, chocolate and spirits production.
Eating in the Genusshöfe
The Genusshöfe operate their own coffee roastery and bakery, with a shop selling products to take home. L’Osteria is a separate restaurant within the complex, identified by the city’s tourism service as L’Osteria in den Genusshöfen.
For an early meal, the restaurant opens at 11:30am from Monday to Saturday and at noon on Sundays. Friday and Saturday service continues until midnight. Its own branch page provides table reservations and options for collecting food or having it delivered.
A dining room with an industrial character
Tall windows, exposed overhead ducts and a high ceiling give the dining room an industrial character that suits the former foundry setting. Tables run beside the windows and across the room, with upholstered benches along the edges. The open kitchen brings food preparation into view from the dining area.
Outside, the terrace follows the restaurant’s broad glass frontage. Striped parasols cover tables among substantial planters, with both round and rectangular tables offering an alternative to eating indoors. The wider Genusshöfe development occupies about 7,000 square metres of the former industrial site.
