The terrace at L’Osteria Rostock has old olive trees. The restaurant occupies the Kontorhaus at Steinstraße 9, near Neuer Markt and the Rathaus Arkaden. Pizza and pasta are at the heart of the menu, indoors and out.
A former bank becomes a restaurant
The premises previously housed a Sparda-Bank branch, then stood empty for three years. Six months of refurbishment preceded the restaurant’s opening in August 2013. The original layout provided 160 seats across two levels, an open kitchen with black tiles and a long central table. Vintage furniture and designer lamps were part of the interior created for franchise operator Uta Wellmann’s new restaurant.
Terrace views and local club life
The pizzas measure 45 centimetres across and can have different toppings on each half. From the terrace, diners have an angled view towards Neuer Markt.
For the open day on 6 September 2026 at Damerower Weg, the branch pledged support to SV Hafen Rostock: drinks for the volunteers and vouchers for pizza or pasta as prizes for participants in the runs over 3.5, 7 and 12 kilometres.
Bringing children along
All pasta dishes are available in smaller portions for children. There is a drawing table for colouring, reading and playing, as well as high chairs and baby-changing facilities.
