Mr. Pizza at Provinzialstraße 218 has changed its cooking over the years: founded in 1996, the pizzeria began making Neapolitan pizza in 2017. Its website introduces Bruno Mandellino as the founder and names Salvatore and Giosué Mandellino as its pizza bakers.
Family ties between Naples and Dortmund
The connection to Naples goes beyond the pizza style. A May 2019 profile in Der Dom magazine traces Bruno Mandellino's roots in the city and his move to Germany in the 1970s. His son Salvatore was born in Germany and began helping in the pizzeria as a child.
Friarielli, ricotta and filled pizza
Salsiccia e Friarielli combines Italian sausage and friarielli, described on the menu as wild broccoli, with fior di latte and provola. Ripieno is a filled pizza with ricotta, provola and Salame Napoli. Napoletana has anchovies, olives, capers, garlic and oregano, without cheese.
The current specials include Feiger Käse with fior di latte, gorgonzola, pecorino, Grana Padano, fig, walnuts and chilli jam. Among the pasta dishes, Rigatoni al Ragù di polpette comes with a tomato and beef meatball ragù and buffalo milk ricotta.

Mr. Pizza takes table reservations and telephone orders on 0231 695665, and its website also links to its own ordering service. As of September 2026, the main website lists Tuesday as its closing day, with Saturday lunch from noon to 3pm as well as evening opening.
