Da Rocco in Mainz-Ebersheim combines stone-oven pizza with a three-course lunch menu. Run by Enzo Perrotta, the trattoria at Römerstraße 8 has a terrace. Inside, small groups of tables run along a continuous dark bench, with bright windows towards the back of the room.
Choosing a pizza by its sauce
At Da Rocco, the choice starts with the sauce. Pizza Rocco has Bolognese sauce, mozzarella, sweetcorn, pepperoni sausage and a fried egg. Sole uses cream sauce, mozzarella, ham and onions. Myriam comes with mascarpone cream, mozzarella, sweetcorn, salami, mushrooms and peppers.
Sicilia uses tomato sauce with mozzarella, aubergine, basil and anchovies. Tagliatelle Sicilia is a vegetarian pasta dish with aubergines, broccoli and garlic in a seasoned tomato sauce. Penne Da Rocco contains ham, mushrooms and onions in a Bolognese and cream sauce.
Three courses at lunchtime
Lunch is served on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 to 14:30. The courses vary by weekday: Wednesday starts with mozzarella caprese, followed by a choice of pizza or salad with grilled chicken strips, then tiramisu. Friday’s menu includes vitello tonnato and mixed ice cream.
Evening meals and takeaway
