A former Targobank branch became L'Osteria at Kennedyplatz 6, where the restaurant opened in late summer 2018. It was the brand's second Essen address, following the Rüttenscheider Straße restaurant, which opened in autumn 2016.
A central kitchen and a planted terrace
The kitchen sits at the centre of the restaurant. Outside, olive trees and oleander frame the terrace. The large pizzas have thin, crisp bases and can be ordered with different toppings on each half, including when you want to share one.
A seat at the bar
Inside, there are small round tables as well as a long table and seats directly at the bar. The restaurant also makes its own tiramisù.
On foot or by car
Kennedyplatz is part of Essen’s pedestrianised city centre. Hirschlandplatz U-Bahn station is about four minutes away on foot from Kennedyplatz 6; the main station, with S-Bahn, U-Bahn and bus connections, is roughly eight minutes away. For drivers, the paid Centralgarage Kennedyplatz is nearby, with its vehicle entrance at Vereinstraße 2.
Visiting with children or taking food home
Families can use high chairs and a drawing table, and children can have a small portion of pasta. There is fresh drinking water for dogs. All dishes are available to take away. As of September 2026, Friday and Saturday opening runs from 11.30am until midnight. Sunday hours are noon to 11pm.
