L’Osteria at Lavesstraße 1–2 has been part of Thielenplatz since April 2012. Its position close to the main station and city centre makes it convenient for a meal after a train journey. Large pizzas, pasta and changing weekly dishes are served here.
A restaurant with a fresh start
The restaurant underwent extensive renovation in 2018 after storm flooding damaged its basement. The work included new wall and floor finishes and refurbished toilets in that part of the building. It reopened on 1 March 2018 after five months of closure and now opens every day.
Pizza in a former cinema
Before it became a restaurant, this address housed the cinema at Thielenplatz. L’Osteria moved into its former premises, with an open kitchen already part of the restaurant at its 2012 launch. Pizzas measure around 45 centimetres across, with different toppings available on each half.
Rows of tables follow the tall windows, beneath large red pendant lights. Upholstered benches provide another seating arrangement, while high stools line the illuminated bar. The kitchen opens towards the dining room, bringing food preparation into view as part of the restaurant setting.
Family facilities near the station
High chairs, a drawing table and baby-changing facilities are provided for families, with small pasta portions for children. Dogs have a drinking station. On Fridays and Saturdays the restaurant stays open until midnight, and food is also available to take away.
