L’Osteria at Hans-Sachs-Platz 14 is in Nuremberg’s old town, close to the Hauptmarkt. The restaurant forms part of the Evangelisches Siedlungswerk’s refurbished group of buildings. The redevelopment also reshaped the square, creating more space to linger.
A square with outdoor tables
In 2021, the Siedlungswerk described the new L’Osteria as a neighbour to Café Katz across the square and the redesigned public space as traffic-free. The restaurant has outdoor seating. You can specifically request an outside table when making your reservation.
The branch serves lunch from 11:30 am Monday to Saturday and from noon on Sundays. On Fridays and Saturdays, restaurant hours extend until midnight. The branch website provides table reservations and takeaway ordering; delivery is also available through its local Wolt listing.
With work on the Obstmarkt expected to continue until 2029, Hans-Sachs-Platz is temporarily open to traffic. Drivers approach the car park via Heubrücke, Vordere Insel Schütt and Spitalbrücke, crossing the square.
Inspired by 1960s Italian cafés
The long, narrow dining room takes its cues from Italian cafés and restaurants of the 1960s. There are low sofas and a bar with raised seating in the window recesses. The open kitchen lets diners watch the work behind the counter.
The restaurant opened in summer 2020 under the coronavirus restrictions of the time.
