A family business in Kerpen
The family business dates back to 1999 and has used the name Onkel since 2013. It moved to Humboldtstraße 14 in February 2022. Hülya Yilmaz is the proprietor.
Portraits above the bench
A long bench runs along a wall with a wood-effect finish, facing dark upholstered chairs across rectangular tables. Framed portraits and an illuminated Onkel sign hang above the bench. Branching black ceiling lights with exposed bulbs and the window to one side complete the setting.
Curry pasta and a family-sized pizza
Pasta Onkel Asia combines fried chicken breast, onions and mushrooms with a curry cream sauce. Pasta dishes come with a choice of pasta shape. For a shared order, La Familia is a rectangular pizza measuring 60 by 40 centimetres. Homemade alcohol-free tiramisu is among the desserts.
Lunch service and a Tuesday closing day
Onkel opens at noon on Mondays and Wednesdays to Fridays. Service starts at 2 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, with closing time at 10 pm on all these days. Tuesday is the weekly closing day. The restaurant also takes delivery orders by phone and online.
