Atzori at Jakobstraße 75–77 has been one of Aachen’s Italian restaurant addresses since 2008. Remo Atzori runs the business under the full name Pizzeria Spaghetteria Atzori. Pizza, pasta and gnocchi are its mainstays, and food is also available to take away.
Two pizza sizes and optional vegan cheese
Pizzas come in 26- and 30-centimetre sizes, with vegan cheese available for a supplement. Rustica combines mozzarella, bresaola, rocket and olive oil. Italia’s rocket, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and olive oil are added cold after baking.
Carbonara uses bacon, organic egg and Parmesan, with or without cream. Gnocchi alla senape comes with gorgonzola, wholegrain mustard and cream. Daily specials and further wines by the glass or bottle are listed on boards inside the restaurant.
Italian travel pictures on the wall
Travel posters in black frames decorate a light-coloured wall inside. Their subjects include Rome, Siena, Capri and Lake Como.
An earlier start on Saturdays
For lunch at Atzori, Saturday is the day to visit: the restaurant opens at 1 pm. On all other days, the operator’s website lists a 4 pm opening, with closing time at 10 pm throughout the week. You can contact the restaurant on 0241 94377488.
For arriving by bus, Karlsgraben is the stop on this stretch of Jakobstraße. ASEAG assigns two stops on opposite sides of the road to route 4: number 3 towards Kaiserplatz and number 4 towards Uniklinik or Weststraße.
