Beside the B1/B5, close to the Brandenburg border, L’Osteria Mahlsdorf occupies a purpose-built restaurant. The detached building has an industrial design and forms part of the shopping development around Porta. Its address for pizza and pasta is Alt Mahlsdorf 88.
Terrace, lounge and children’s facilities
The restaurant has a terrace. Inside, a separate lounge-style seating area groups high-backed upholstered armchairs around low tables. A large arched window and exposed brickwork give this part of the dining room its character.
Families have access to highchairs, a changing facility and a drawing table. Dogs are also welcome, with a drinking station provided.
Pizza to share, indoors or outside
The 45-centimetre pizzas can be shared and ordered with different toppings on each half. Opened in June 2017, the restaurant was run by Silvio Beiler, a trained chef. Beside the bar stands a long, high communal table; smaller tables line the blue upholstered banquette behind it.
The large glass frontage folds back in several sections, opening up the dining room along the paved terrace. Here, tables stand beneath striped parasols, with potted plants dividing the outdoor seating along the broad window frontage. The restaurant stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 11pm on other days. All dishes are also available to take away.
