L’Osteria serves pizza and pasta beside Charlottenburg’s leafy Savignyplatz, with a large terrace in front of the restaurant. At number 5, outdoor tables join the square’s neighbouring restaurants.
Window tables and pizza to share
Inside, you can choose between tables beside the windows and seats at the long bar.
Pizzas measure 45 centimetres and can have different toppings on each half. The kitchen opens onto the dining room behind a counter with a glass screen, with the oven also in view.
The building’s history
L’Osteria took over these premises from a Spanish tapas restaurant. A bronze plaque installed in 1977 commemorates George Grosz as part of the building’s history. It depicts the artist at work; he died at Savignyplatz 5 in 1959.
Lunch and late evenings
The restaurant opens at 11:30am from Monday to Saturday and at noon on Sundays. It stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 11pm on other days. Tables can be booked through the branch website. The branch telephone number is +49 30 31806869.
Taking the S-Bahn to Savignyplatz
Savignyplatz station is served by S-Bahn routes S3, S5, S7 and S9. The station is in Berlin fare zone A. At the eastern end of the platform, a lift connects the station with Bleibtreustraße. Bicycle parking is available at the station. A public Berliner Toilette can be found on Savignyplatz by Grolmanstraße.
