Pizza against a painted cinema backdrop: Melody at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 12 recalls a piece of Potsdam’s film history. The pizzeria opened in November 2018 in a shop facing the street. The former Melodie cinema occupied a building in the rear courtyard and closed in 2004.
Cinema scenes on the walls
For the opening, the proprietor commissioned murals showing the cinema’s street frontage in the 1970s and its historic auditorium with rows of red seats. Images of the Olsen Gang and Marlon Brando as the Godfather also featured in the decoration. The dining room continues to reflect this cinema theme. Gone with the Wind also features among the film posters.
Outside, benches stand beside the street, directly by the tram stop. Pizza is also available to take away.
Hollandaise pizza and spicy cream sauce
Gaumenschmaus pizza combines chicken, bacon and spinach with hollandaise, tomato sauce and mozzarella. The meatless Vegetaria is topped with spinach, peppers, courgette, aubergine, mushrooms and rocket.
Pasta Melodie brings together chicken, broccoli and garlic in a spicy cream sauce. The house carbonara is made with ham, cream and egg. For a tomato sauce, the menu offers bolognese made with beef. Penne Funghi comes with mushrooms and onions in cream sauce.
Lunchtime delivery
Delivery begins at 3pm on Mondays and at 11am on all other days of the week.
