Vabene at Theaterstraße 48 combines a pizzeria with an aperitivo bar. A glass of wine is as much a part of the concept as a full meal: the restaurant expressly welcomes people stopping by for a drink and conversation. Its Italian cooking ranges from South Tyrol to Sicily.
A Sicilian host in Aachen
Salvatore Bonarrigo has run Aachen’s Vabene since April 2018. Originally from Sicily, he discussed plans for his second restaurant in Düren in the Aachener Zeitung in April 2026.
Aubergine, beef fillet and pizza without cheese
Vabene Speciale 2 pizza comes with thinly sliced beef fillet, rocket, Parmesan and balsamic cream. Vabene Vegan combines mushrooms, spinach, peppers, artichokes, olives and garlic, expressly without cheese.
Vabene’s Pasta alla Norma uses rigatoni, aubergine, mozzarella and tomato sauce. Duetto di pasta brings together lasagne and cannelloni. Before the food, Aperitivo Vabene offers a combination of Prosecco and tonic with cucumber and rosemary.
Alongside the main menu
The additional menu displayed in September 2026 shows the kitchen’s hearty side: Scaloppine Boscaiola consists of three small pork schnitzels with fried mushrooms and onions. It also lists penne with chicken, broccoli and onions in cream sauce. These recommendations supplement the main menu as a changing selection.
Takeaway meals can be ordered by phone for collection. Vabene offers delivery at lunchtime and in the evening on weekdays, and in the evening only at weekends. For eating in, the restaurant opens at 11 am from Monday to Friday and at 3:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
