L’Osteria has been at Hahnenstraße 37 in Cologne since 2013. The dining room has an open layout, with exposed brick and dark wood. Small groups of tables, larger shared tables and banquette alcoves offer different seating arrangements, while the kitchen is visible from the dining area.
From Ehrenstraße to the terrace
The branch is near the Ehrenstraße shopping area. In summer, you can eat outside among olive trees and jasmine. For children, there are smaller pasta portions and a drawing table for colouring, reading and playing. There is also drinking water for dogs.
A building with a restaurant history
The pizzas measure 45 centimetres across, with differently topped halves available on request. The address had a restaurant history before L’Osteria arrived: it had housed a pasta restaurant and, later, Carola Stern’s Vintage. The listed building was remodelled and thoroughly renovated for the pizzeria.
At its opening in 2013, the restaurant had 220 indoor seats and around 170 outside. Including storage rooms, the premises then covered more than 900 square metres. Today, bar seating complements the dining tables: tall backless stools line the long counter.
Dessert and takeaway
Desserts include tiramisu and panna cotta. Pizza and pasta are also available to take away. Call 0221 33108383 for table enquiries; on Fridays and Saturdays, the restaurant opens at 11.30 am and closes at midnight.
