LA PIZZERIA Stuttgart
L’Osteria Stuttgart Epplestraße
Pizzeria in Stuttgart
Italian cooking arrived at Degerloch’s former Gasthof Ritter in late 2024. L’Osteria moved into the building at Epplestraße 2 following renovation after a period of vacancy. Parts of the property have listed status. This address on the B27 is also close to the Degerloch public transport stop.
Inside the former Ritter
The interior was designed for 140 guests, with another 68 seats on the terrace. Natural stone, wood and leather combine with brass details and rust-red upholstery. The restaurant has an open kitchen. Jennifer Meyer, previously at L’Osteria Metzingen, took charge of the restaurant when it opened.
The history behind the timber façade
The former inn was dismantled in 1984 to make way for an underground car park. Its main building was subsequently reconstructed, reusing the original eastern timber façade facing Epplestraße. The projecting inn sign with its figure of St George was also reinstalled.
On 22 April 1945, mayor Karl Strölin handed Stuttgart over to French troops here. The meeting took place in a former guest room that was being used as an office. That historic interior no longer survives.
